A bright summer is upon us!

Gatineau, Monday, April 4, 2022 – The good weather is finally back and the Marché de l’Outaouais is getting ready for the beautiful season. This spring, consumers are invited to discover the region’s top products by ordering them directly from the cooperative’s hundred or so local producers. Citizens will be able to take advantage of the arrival of local and seasonal products from the Outaouais region in stores!

In April, the Marché de l’Outaouais is full of a variety of meats from pastured animals raised in the region using regenerative agriculture. By the beginning of May, the little sprouts start to emerge. This is the time to visit the Market to get equiped on gardening and prepare your garden with plants or seedlings for fruits and vegetables or herbs. Then comes June and the long awaited BBQ season. There is nothing better than grilled asparagus in the open air to feel like you are on vacation. Finally, berry picking marks the arrival of summer and the succulent Quebec strawberries that we have been waiting for all winter! ” Spring is the occasion to discover the richness that nature offers us, but also the work of the producers of the region to provide us with a local, healthy and delicious food. ” Audrey Demars, director of the Marché de l’Outaouais.

1702,65$ will be given to Moisson Outaouais thanks to ECOdollars

Local, sustainable and supportive, the Marché de l’Outaouais is also innovating in the way grocery shopping. With its permanent ECOdollars program, it allows its members to support food security in the region and to contribute to the energy transition of their cooperative. Thus, betweenApril 1st , 2021 and March 31, 2022, the Marché de l’Outaouais has saved $1,702.65, which will be given to Moisson Outaouais so that this organization can put products from our local producers in the baskets of its beneficiaries. The same amount of money will be invested in the Marketplace’s energy-efficient projects. AtApril 1st2022, we are resetting the clock and hope to do even better for the 2022-2023 year.

By paying for their purchases in advance through an Interac transfer with the ECOdollar program, members save the Marché the 3% transaction fee. The Marché reinvests it back into the region:

– 1.5% of your purchases to Moisson Outaouais to put local products in the baskets of its beneficiaries.

– 1.5% in sustainable development projects for MDO. Our first project is the purchase of an electric truck to pick up products directly from producers, the development of new pick-up points and delivery areas.
