Christian and Marguerite from the farm and cheese factory Les folies bergères

Christian and Maggie started working on a farm late in life. Both ex-military, disciplined and passionate, this couple loves the challenge and together possess strengths of organization and perseverance. They have training in sheep production in addition to their university education.

Located in Sainte-Sixte, in the Petite-Nation region, Les folies bergères farm produces between 25,000 and 30,000 liters of milk annually with 125 ewes and 25 replacement ewe lambs. In addition, they produce between 125 and 175 market lambs.

The farm is also a cheese factory: cream cheese, feta, soft cheese and finally a semi-firm cheese. The cheese factory buys local cow’s milk to make fresh cheddar cheese of the day for the local market.

Anne Fleury and Marc De Repentigny

Surrounded by their team and family, Marc and Anne from Ferme Aux Solstices have set up a market garden farm and dog sledding project in Namur, in the Petite-Nation region.

In addition to vegetables, they grow about 20 different varieties of microgreens throughout the year to vary the pleasures of both taste and texture.

Christine and Carl from Ferme HLF du Lac Simon

In Lac Simon, in the Petite-Nation, vegetables are grown with the family and with music at the Ferme HLF du Lac Simon HLF, 3 letters for a horticultural, vegetable and fruit farm where the love of beauty, well done and good is at the heart of the production.

Carl and Christine arrived in Lac Simon in the fall of 2004 with their three children. They wanted to provide their customers with fresh products that were grown with respect for nature.

Christine Lavoie is a professor in the Department of Horticulture and Agriculture at Collège Lionel-Groulx.

Carl Poirier is a graduate in food processing science, a hunting guide and a trainer for the collectif régional de formation agricole de l’Outaouais (CRFAO).

Marike, their daughter, joined them in the adventure.

Koichi Watanabe, the creative tofu craftsman behind La Soyarie, Inc.

“Tofu is a common food product prepared from soybeans. The process of making tofu generally involves curdling soy milk, then pressing the resulting mixture into a mold, hence the term ‘soy curd’ that is sometimes used to refer to tofu.”

Although Soyarie is a privately held company, its values reflect those of its founder: customer satisfaction and a focus on public health and customer interests.

The Chelsea Buccaneer’s

The Chelsea Smokehouse is a well known and much loved institution nestled in the beautiful Gatineau Hills in Chelsea with a magnificent view of the river. It is the only smokehouse entirely dedicated to Western Quebec and Eastern Ontario. Michael Kaplan a regular customer of the store took over the business in September 2014.

The Buccaneer’s products are among the best in the world, and customers come from far and wide to enjoy the delicious smoked products, including: cold-smoked Atlantic salmon, sockeye, yellowfin tuna, steelhead trout, scallops and shrimp, salmon jerky, and much more.
